Review: Blow Me A Kiss

This renamed version of Samuel’s Kisses holds all its original sparkle and sweetness. Can grumpy adults be softened by the presence of a smiling child? You betcha.

Serena Geddes’ illustrations bring the local shopping centre to life. Coupled with Karen Collum’s adventurous text, we fly with Samuel’s kisses under, over, around, between and through all sorts of places. The subtle matching of goods on display with their designated shops makes Blow Me a Kiss is a perfect vocabulary-teaching tool. Changes in people’s actions that indicate their mood changes, allows children to learn about social cues.

But apart from the lovely learning opportunities Blow Me a Kiss offers, it is sure to leave a smile on your face. It’s a feel good pick-me-up sort of story for any day.
