Review: Smarty Pup: Talent Quest

Smarty Pup, the smartest dog in the world, is back in an all new story, Talent Quest.

The fourth book in Anh Do's Smarty Pup series is packed full of everyday adventures for new readers.

It begins with Dad's birthday. Birthdays mean presents and if they're to find the right one, JJ will need to remain strong against deliciously distracting food smells at the shops.

But what to buy for him? And do they have enough money to buy it?

JJ and Lily hunt for spare change without much luck. Then they discover they have the chance to win a cash prize at the school talent quest.

What will JJ do for his talent? Recite Shakespeare, because of course he's brilliant at it. Or perhaps disco dancing, because he can dance like he's done it for years.

Review: Smarty Pup: JJ and the Giant Panther

Smarty Pup: JJ and the Giant Panther is book two in the bestselling Anh Do's Smarty Pup series illustrated by Anton Emdin.

Like book one (Friends Fur-ever), this book is in fully colour. It's brightness is not just visual, it's a vibrant story as well.

JJ is a genius pup. He's good at just about everything. Plus he's got super hearing, super smell, and is super fast.

This time around JJ and his special friend Lily are heading off camping and will be learning about bravery. Or at least they will be once Lily and and the other students convince the teacher that JJ deserves to be part of the school trip -- he's one of the class after all, never mind that he's a dog rather than a human.

Although excited about camping, Lily's also a bit nervous. She and dad talk about different kinds of bravery.

Review: Smarty Pup: To the Rescue

Smarty Pup: To the Rescue is book three in the series by Anh Do, starring a friendly canine companion with special powers.

This time around, JJ the Smarty Pup and his friends are learning about different occupations. The school hosts special guests to talk about their jobs as photographers and pilots and other things.

In a neat crossover with Anh Do’s Weirdo series, the guests include Weir Do and his dad who is a firefighter. Mr Do has brought a real firetruck for the kids to see.

Lily, JJ and their friends get to try out some of the protective clothing (helmet, goggles, jacket and so one), and equipment like the fire hose. When aiming the hose goes a bit haywire, water goes everywhere! There are also fire drills, with the kids practising how to ‘get down low and GO, GO, GO!’

Review: Smarty Pup: Friends Fur-ever

Imagine having a dog that could suddenly talk like a human and was smarter than you! That's what happens to Lily in Smarty Pup.

Smarty Pup: Friends Fur-ever is the start of a brand new series from the bestselling Anh Do , with illustrations by Anton Emdin.

When Lily's dad announces they're getting a pet, she's really excited. Everyone else at school seems to have special things for show and tell, but she's only got boring things to share. Until JJ comes into her life.
