This time Eric Hill has Spot encountering a common childhood fear about water. Spot is unsure about getting into the pool even though his friend Tom is already swimming. With Mum's encouragement Spot climbs in.
Spot, wearing a rubber ring, holds onto the edge of the pool and splashes until his confidence grows. Once comfortable he lets go of the pool's edge and bobs about the water with Steve. Spot knows that Mum is always close by just in case he needs her help.
The story will give parents a knowing chuckle as Spot dries off and announces that he's hungry.
