Review: First Words English Flash Cards

Here is a wonderful way for children to learn language whether they are simply learning words, or if they are learning English as a second language.

Inspired by the First Words books, these double-sided flash cards come in five additional languages: French, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish.

The cards are presented in a sturdy green cardboard box with a pull-out drawer. Brilliant colours that stand out on a glossy easy-wipe covering make them child-friendly, durable and portable.

One side has the picture and the other side the word for the picture with the pronunciation underneath. There is a free, online Listen and Learn pronunciation app that can be accessed by scanning the code. Information is on the box.

The flash cards’ value is increased by several advantages: they can be used to teach children words to increase their vocabulary, and can also be used in guessing games as to what the word is, using only the picture. In fact, the use of the cards is limited only by the imagination, for there are always more ways to use learning tools than the originally intended one.

Lonely Planet Kids is always coming up with exciting and innovative ideas that benefit children and parents. For those interested, you might like to visit their site and check out what is available.
