1. Tell us something hardly anyone knows about you.
When I was in primary school, I wanted to be a mortician.
2. What is your nickname?
Jess to most, Squishy to my brother and Jica to a select few in the know.
3. What is your greatest fear?
Geckos - the way they fall on you and drop their tails. Ick!
4. Describe your writing style in ten words. I plan everything out and then overthink what I’ve written.
5. Tell us five positive words that describe you as a writer.
Thoughtful. Intentional. Organised. Reflective. Warm.

6. What book character would you be, and why?
I’d be Polly Meridian from Polymer by Sally Rogers-Davidson. She’s in a band, gets captured by aliens, falls in love and still manages to save herself. Honestly, the ultimate chaotic-but capable female protagonist.
7. If you could time travel, what year would you go to and why?
200 years into the future, I love dystopian fiction and I want to see what came true.
8. What would your ten-year-old self say to you now?
Did you write down the names of all the books you’ve read? If you haven’t, you’re probably regretting it right now. (Yes, I am.)
9. Who is your greatest influence?
From a professional point of view - my English teachers from high school (shout out to Mr Thomas!) but also the amazing people I’ve been in contact with through the library world.
10. What made you start writing?
I wouldn’t really call myself a writer but I really enjoy sharing my bookish opinions with people and this is a way to do that.
11. What is your favourite word and why?
Liminal - it feels like possibility. I just like the idea of ‘in-between’.

12. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I think this is the curliest question and entirely unfair to ask. But since you’ve twisted my arm, Night Watch by Terry Pratchett.
