Review: Unicorn!

A story of friendship, secret promises and magic, Unicorn! is a treasure that will delight all fantasy and unicorn lovers.

In Unicorn!, a young girl’s best friend (Luka) has to go to hospital. The girl tells Luka to make a wish and she will make it happen.

But when Luka wishes for a unicorn, the girl finds it harder than expected to make the wish come true.

She never gives up, though. And when she finally delivers the magical unicorn to Luka, they both enjoy the wonders of their new secret friend.
Unicorn! is a beautiful picture book. It’s about best friends and the lengths best friends will go to make each other happy. But it’s also about magic and imagination — about being a kid and believing in secret worlds.

Infused with subtle humour, it's a fantastic book to read to a crowd. Kids are going to love the unicorn poo (and I dare say, adults will as well!).

The illustrations are truly stunning. Cheryl Orsini’s style is bright, colourful and super funky. This is the kind of book that catches your eye from across the room and makes your fingers itch to reach for it. The characters come to life on the page, and I guarantee you won't be able to stop yourself from smiling as you turn the beautiful pastel-coloured pages.

From debut author Maggie Hutchings and super talented illustrator Cheryl Orsini, Unicorn! will be adored by kids and adults alike. And if you'd like to find more of Cheryl Orsini's divine illustrations, check out Lucy's Book, Caravan Fran and Come On, Let's Play!.
