Review: Mummy's Suitcase

In this newest book from the Ruby Roo series, Ruby Roo and her little brother Barney have as much entertaining fun as ever on a mission to help their Mum.

Mummy is going away for three days, so with Barney by her side, Ruby uses her cheeky charm and knowledge of Mummy to help pack her suitcase with all the things she loves. Amusingly, this includes a cabbage, a lawn mower and lots of other odd items. Will they all fit in?

Review: Sophie Johnson: Unicorn Expert

Sophie Johnson: Unicorn Expert is a wonderful and amusing story of a day in the life of Sophie, a self-proclaimed unicorn expert with a creative imagination. Sophie and her 17 unicorns made me smile profusely and laugh out loud. I loved this book!

Written in the first person, Sophie tells of the hard work and tasks involved with looking after her unicorns, such as hunting for food, teaching them magic and protecting them from enemies. Illustrations show Sophie’s unicorns are created using paper, carrots and toothbrushes taped to toys, pets and even a younger sibling, which is very funny to see.

Review: Squishy McFluff: Secret Santa

Oh how I love Squishy McFluff. I so want him as a pet, and I so wish I lived next door to Ava. She is just the coolest kid--high on imagination and shenanigans. The type of neighbour I would have loved as a kid (or maybe I was her??).

The fourth book in the series (of 6 so far), this early reader is another delight. Written in beautifully-constructed rhyme, we again go on a rollicking adventure with Ava and Squishy, her invisible cat (who, of course, is the cause of ALL that goes wrong).

Review: Captain Pug: The Dog Who Sailed the Seas

This is the first book in a new series perfect for fans of Squishy McFluff.

Pug is the pampered pet of Lady Miranda. He lives a life of luxury with jam tarts for breakfast and a comfortable four-poster bed to sleep on. Lady Miranda has a maid and two footmen, and a very large wardrobe, and does pretty much as she pleases.

Pug loves Lady Miranda and loves doing things with her. Well, most things. He quite likes staying at home, and he's not a big fan of the water. So when their plans for the day involve a pedallo adventure on the local lake, Pug isn't as excited as he might be. His cute little sailor suit helps him feel somewhat better, but he's still worried that he's not going to be the impressive 'sea captain' Lady Miranda seems to expect.

Review: Squishy McFluff: Supermarket Sweep

Squishy is back! and I, for one, couldn't be happier. I simply adored the debut book in this series, and in this second book, Ava and Squishy are planning a fabulous day of action-packed fun.

Only trouble is, Mum insists they need to go run some errands. Fun spoiled. Ava tries to get out of it by insisting Squishy is sick, but Mum again kyboshes that by saying Squishy can stay home.

Reluctantly, Ava and Squishy jump in the car. The two would MUCH rather explore the forest, but they nonetheless head off with Mum, ending up at the supermarket. Boring! To make it fun, Ava and Squishy start a race--with less than peaceful results.

Adore. Adore. Adore. Everything about this book, I simply adore. From it's adorable cover to its adorable characters and adorable text--it's just, quite simply, adorable!

Little Ava has a big imagination. When a fluffy, snowy white cat makes his way into Ava's world, out of the ether, things start out well, but soon become a little complicated.

Things get spilled. Texta appears on the curtain. Sweaters become unravelled. That naughty cat just can't stop causing mischief, and eventually Ava is called upon to rethink her new little friend.
