Review: When I Love You at Christmas

No matter what your beliefs or your traditions, no one can argue that Christmas is about love.

This picture book celebrates just that. Taking us through all the different things families do during the lead-up to and celebration of Christmas - from wrapping presents to baking, decorating the tree to singing songs, and more - and reiterates that one huge thing that children need reassurance of: your love for them.

"When you make your cards, when you spell your words, that's when I love you", it says. Or, "When you shake and guess, when you whoop and jump, that's when I love you".

After several different activities with this repetition, that important message is so clear: no matter what you're doing, I love you.

The vintage-style illustrations with their own comfortable repetition, in the form of a gorgeous cuddly toy in the little girl's arms, are lovely and peaceful.

So spread the Christmas love and share a beautiful Christmas story, like this, with your little one. There's nothing better.
