Review: Oliver

This is just one of those books that is so totally on the mark concept-wise, you'll laugh out loud then read it over and over again, even though it will take you just 15 seconds each reading.

Consisting of just 7 pages, Oliver is about an egg. An egg that's pretty much like any other egg. He can roll. He can stand on his head. And that's about it. He is what he is.

Until one day. Everything changed.

Oh I just can't spoil the 'ending' but suffice to say it's a simplistic yet charming delight - making use of a very clever internalised ribbon system. And if I love this book as much as a one-year-old would - so will you.

I want to adopt Oliver.

Footnote: prepare for this book to get utterly dog-earned. The thick pages are there to contain an internal ribbon system so you may want to get a second copy to 'keep' while toddler fingers attempt to prise open non-existent pages!
