Review: Wolf Won't Bite

She's done it again. Emily Gravett's latest picture book is a hit, with kids requesting it over and over and over.

And over.

Three little circus pigs declare:

"Roll up! Roll up! Roll up! We have caught a wild wolf!"

And oh, the things they do with this wolf - from tying a bow around his neck, to lifting him in the air, from making him jump through hoops to shooting him from a cannon, and more. All with the knowledge that...

"Wolf won't bite!"

But will they push him too far?

This is classic Gravett: apparent simplicity, cheekily funny and illustrations that tell the story so well they barely even need text.

Children will be in fits of laughter at these crazy pigs making a spectacle of the giant wolf, and at the ending that sees a little bit of trouble.

The story can also be taken as a lesson in how to treat household pets, bringing it a little closer to home and relevant to day-to-day life.

Either way, this is a gorgeous book that will be a wonderful addition to any book collection.
