Review: Laugh Your Head Off 4 Ever

The fourth instalment in the Laugh Your Head Off collection, Laugh Your Head Off 4 Ever, is packed with nine short stories by brilliant kid lit authors.

And it will leave the kids in stitches.

A thieving alien that won’t go away, three naughty fairies who fail at their fairy jobs, a cereal monster, curses galore and even more fill this awesome junior fiction short story collection.

With stories by Andy Griffiths, James Roy, Felice Arena, Matt Stanton, Lisa Shanahan, Penny Tangey, Marcus Emerson, Yvette Poshoglian and Katrina Nannestad, there’s a wonderful variety of styles and content to explore — something for everyone to adore and opportunities to discover something new.

And that’s the brilliant thing about a short story collection. It’s a marvellous taster of many different authors, and you get to try them all!

All the stories are bite-sized (about 20 pages), and they’re nicely sandwiched between bright yellow pages, making them easy to navigate. Funky illustrations by Andrea Innocent are scattered throughout the book, adding pizzazz to each of the stories, but the stories are mostly text.

This is a great book for… everywhere: classrooms, bedrooms, lounge rooms, all rooms! You can spread out the stories over time, and work your way through them slowly, or devour the whole thing at once.

A perfect gift for Christmas, I highly recommend Laugh Your Head Off 4 Ever for kids aged eight to twelve who love funny, weird and wacky stories. And if the kids like this book, don't forget to check out the books that came before it: Laugh Your Head Off, Laugh Your Head Off Again and Laugh Your Head Off Again and Again.
