Review: Mummy Laid An Egg

What is this story about? It's about a mum and a dad who don't know about how babies are made, and they tell their children how babies are made... like out of tubes and plants. They are actually wrong - and the children don't believe them, so the children tell the parents how babies are made.

Who are the main characters? The parents and the children.

What problems or challenges do these characters face? Not really anything.

What is the climax of the story, when things get the most problematic or exciting? When the parents and the children tell each other how babies are made.

Were there any shocks, twists, turns or surprises? The parents didn't really believe the children but then they started to.
Can you describe the illustrations? They kind of look like watercolours with light drawings and lots of details. She uses special techniques that look like when children draw with crayons. It's like they use drawings inside drawings.

What do you like about the illustrations? I like the children's drawings and I also like all the drawings of all the animals because they use lots of details.

What was your favourite part in this book? When the mum and the dad say how they babies are made, which is actually the wrong way babies are made. It's pretty funny where they think the babies come from.

Is there anything you didn’t like about this book? There’s not much I didn’t like.

Did you learn anything new from this story? It kind of shows you how the babies are made so I learned that. It was pretty cool.
