Review: Nanny Piggins

Oh, Ms Spratt, you had me at the first line of the blurb. "In space, no one can hear you oink!"

Love it.

This fourth installment in the Nanny Piggins series is full to the brim with witty humour, classic scenarios with a new twist and page-turning antics.

The opening chapter takes us into the home of the Greens, where the three children and Nanny Piggins are enduring an awkward Father's Day dinner with the father of the family. This is the stuff comedy dreams are made of.

Add to that the nanny who doesn't want the children to attend school for full hours five days a week, a visit from NASA to collect said flying nanny, the children coming home to find Boris the nanny's brother there - and this is just one laugh after another.

It continues - and gets better.

Enter bungy jumping, accidental space launches, efforts to keep Santa out, rescues, wrestles, thievery and... well, I think you'll just have to read this one for yourself. I can't possibly explain it all!

Needless to say, the action is non-stop and will keep any child intrigued and eager to turn the pages. Spratt's humour is dry and witty and so much fun to read. Her injections of irresistible likeability to all the characters are inspiring.

This is a must-read and a necessary addition to all kids' book collections.
