Review: I Like Chocolate

KBR favourite, author Davide Cali, has certainly had the fortune of working with an astounding array of high-impact illustrators. And his written work honestly deserves the best. In I Like Chocolate, striking pictures by Evelyn Daviddi perfectly chocolate coat another divinely sweet story.

Writing the type of books all authors wished they’d thought of, this talented writer pens another winner in I Like Chocolate. I mean, who doesn’t like chocolate? Well, one person I met once – but considering the amount of people I’ve met in my lifetime, this is one teensy percentage.

Yes, the lad in this gorgeous book certainly likes chocolate. He likes the way it crunches between his teeth. He likes the many different kinds. He likes the flavours – and he’ll even list them for you, just to prove it.

He especially likes the type of chocolate you need to sample every single one of, in order to find out what’s inside them.

Clever boy.

He likes white chocolate, dark chocolate, soft and silky, semi sweet. But most of all he likes chocolate for those moments when life gives you troubles. He likes how it makes the perfect gift. How it can be used to sweet talk mum, make friends, stop someone hurting and placate a parking-space-seeking Dad.

This gorgeous book is such a visual feast and written delight, it will make you smile the whole way through, especially the part where our young lad takes us through the different ways to eat chocolate… my particular fave? The shovel.

Chocolate may go straight to your heart. But so does this book. Delicious.
