Review: I Scream, Ice Cream

‘What do I scream and ice cream have in common? Nothing - besides that fact that they sound the same!’

Well, unless of course you are a 2-year-old and are screaming because you are desperate for ice cream!

I Scream, Ice Cream is a very witty book. It showcases many ‘wordles’. Wordles are groups of words that sound the same, but are totally different in meaning.

The book really encourages readers to think about what each worldle answer may be. It’s a fun and entertaining brain teaser! Who knew that ‘Sorry, no more funnel cakes’ means ‘Sorry, no more fun… elk aches'?

I loved flicking through this book because the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. They accompany the story really well, and they allow children to understand the point of wordles.

I Scream, Ice Cream is a really delightful book that everyone will loves! I adore pondering over the illustrations and figuring out the connection between the two phrases. This book definitely deserves a spot on everyone’s book shelf.

Now, if you will excuse me, I am off to scream for ice cream. Oh - and this is illustrated by one of my Mum's (KBR Founder, Tania McCartney) favourite illustrators of all-time.
