Review: My Big World

The talented team from Okido Studio in the UK have produced yet another winning, large format book for travel-hungry tots.

My Big World is a luscious production ... saturated colour, divine layout and design, matte pages with a vivacious blend of block-colour illustration, photographs, diagrams, how-tos, maps, keys and more.

The book is fundamentally a voyage of discovery. Kids can explore themselves, their home, their back gardens, even their lunch, before moving onto farms, towns, rivers and streams, the beach, forests and mountains.

The seasons and weather are also covered, as are animals, the planet - even outer space.

Although this sounds almost encyclopedic, it's not. It's much more interactive than that, with super cool projects and ideas offered along the way. Kids can make their own bird feeder. They can play matching games. They can make their own kebabs or create paper dolls. They can even explore the woods with 10 fun ideas.

Educational, enlightening and just plain fun, the magic in this book is in the vibrancy and imaginative whimsy (and the super cool, retro-style illustrations). Like a mega-sophisticated activity book, it will draw kids in--and keep them there.

Now, excuse me. I'm off to make a biscuit that looks like the surface of the moon.
