Review: We're Going on a Bar Hunt

Okay, parents. The Silly Season is upon us, and it's time for a little indulgence. So, take this charming parody on the classic Michael Rosen children's book We're Going on a Bear Hunt, stick a cocktail umbrella behind your ear, and let's take a wander through the pages.

We're going on a bar hunt.
We're going to find a cool one.
The babysitter's booked.
We're not old!

And as Mum and Dad kiss the kids goodbye and head out on the town with some mates, we quickly discover, there are so many 'cool ones' to choose from.

There's the new off-license. There's a groovy gastronomic pub. A cocktail bar. A rocking club ... but wait. What's that large, hairy creature getting down on the dance floor at the club? Could it be a rather large bear? And could one of our bar crawlers have accidentally spilled their drink on the bear?

Uh-oh.

Filled with gorgeous, picture book-style illustrations, this is a book any adult will guffaw over, from the 'stumble, trip! strumble trip!' to the 'act sober', 'pay off the babysitter' and 'crash out on the sofa'.

And as the kids leap onto the sofa at 6am the next morning, we learn that no, Mum and Dad are NOT going on a bar hunt again.

A great Silly Season hostess gift.
