Review: Rawr!

Todd H Doodler and his superlative doodles are back in this gorgeous, tough-format picture book for toddlers.

Rawr! is as fresh as a just-squeeze lime, with its cutout front cover featuring a padded, fabric dino--perfect for tactile little fingers.

Internal pages feature thicker paper pages--ideal for repeat reads--and vibrant colour will keep kids engaged, as will the storyline, written in a wonderfully dry author voice.

Being a dinosaur is hard. Particularly when you're bigger than everyone else (even the teachers and the school bus), when gym clothes don't fit, when you sit at your desk and crush it to smithereens.

But being good can also have its benefits. You're very good at NFL. And basketball is not an issue at all. And your tail easily converts to a really cool slide.

The thing about being a dino, though, is that you can be easily misunderstood. Yes, your smile looks like you're about to swallow someone and yes, Rawr! sounds awfully intimidating, but didn't you know this is how dinos say hello?

Hello!?

I simply adore the humour in this book--even tiny ones will love it. Illustrations are super fun, and Doodler manages to pack a whole heap of expression into his simple line-drawings, too.

A must-have toddler book.
