Review: Annie's Snails

Annie is a little girl who loves snails! In fact, she collects four of them to become her pets, and names them Kate, Ally, Tom and Harry.

Annie is very gentle with her pet snails and does her best to look after them well. They get to slide over her, leaving sparkling snail trails. She enjoys watching them race — very slowly! — and after she writes the initials of their names on their shells, so she can tell them apart, she finds she can even spell words with them!

But perhaps the snails don't enjoy being Annie's pets as much as she'd like. They don't look very happy in their overnight home of an ice-cream container and they escape at the first opportunity. And when Annie recaptures them and returns them to their home, they look very very sad. What should Annie do?

Part of the Walker Stories series, this is a great stepping stone for children wanting to move on from picture books. Divided into three short chapters, and with an illustration on every page, young readers will be able to confidently test their emerging skills!
