Review: Come Count with Me!

Sooner or later, our kids think they know it all! And the little chicken in this book is no exception.

This little chicky has mastered counting. She can count from one to ten with no problem at all. But Nana, well, she's not so good. When Nana has a go, she starts off well … 1, 2 … but then falters with a 7!

'No! Nana! No! You've got it all wrong …' cries little chicky. But after a few more attempts, Nana still can't get it right, so it's up to little chicky to show her how to count properly. One snail, two butterflies, three mushrooms, four flowers, five bees …

At last, Nana gets it right!

This is a truly adorable counting book. I loved how Nana was happy to humour little chicky and be 'taught' her numbers, and the illustrations capture the warmth of their relationship perfectly. And as someone who appreciates beautifully designed endpapers, I'm delighted to say the ones in Come Count with Me! get a big tick.
