Review: Onesie Mumsie!

Our little poppet loves her onesie at bedtime. It's in the shape of an adorable pink bunny, you see, and it's snuggly and cosy and lovely for sleep.

But while rabbits are happy to nod off right now ... a crocodile is up for anything! (Poppet slips into a croc onesie.) Mumsie! There's a crocodile in my bed!

In comes Mum, who loves to eat up crocodiles ... before putting them back to bed. But while crocs might be happy to nod off right now ... a tiger is ready for action!

Mumsie! There's a tiger in my bed! (Poppet has changed into a tiger onesie.) Of course, Mumsie has experience with little tigers. After a little but of tiger tickling, it's back into bed.

And so on goes the onesie tale, with the appearance of a penguin, a bear .. and a last page surprise.

This is a sweet story about the warm and loving relationship of mother and daughter--and the priceless antics of bedtime jostles. Amanda Francey's pastel illustrations are a fairyfloss delight, with gorgeous colourings and a great balance of fine technique and charming emotion.

A great bedtime tale (though be wary of the good old storyline mimic!). Meanwhile, I want me that penguin onesie.
