Review: Numbers

Illustration lovers rejoice. If you adored Paul Thurlby's Alphabet, you'll go bananas over this luscious, large format picture book on numbers. Hang the wee mites--this is a concept book for adults, if you ask me.

Drool over the calamitous end papers. Marvel at the thick, creamy matte pages. Heart-thump over the full double-page spreads of retro artwork and colour-mixing and patterning. Smooth your hand over the two flamingos in pop-art pink, the Fab Four and their '60s haircuts, the 8-balls on the snooker table.

Retro illustration nirvana.
Like reading, I truly believe an appreciation for art begins in childhood. Set your little ones up for a Renaissance life with this marvellous book of cleverness and artistic splendour. And enjoy every single page turn alongside them.

I can hear your hearts racing from here.
