Review: Simon's New Bed

Simon the dog has a brand-new bed. He cannot wait to take the best ever nap in it. But first, he's going for a walk with his owner. His bed will be waiting for him when he gets back, ready for that perfect nap.

So, he's back! He's quickly rehydrated (from the toilet bowl) and he's off to his bed. His brand-new bed that is now …

OCCUPIED! By Miss Adora Belle, the cat.

Big problem. Simon tries politeness to get her to shift. Nope. No reaction.

He tries noise. Nothing.

He drags her and his bed around, hoping to throw her off. But cats are known for their balance.

Miss Adora Belle seems to have an answer for every single one of Simon's tactics. Could Simon have lost his new bed before he's managed to take even one nap in it?

I laughed out loud through this book. The understated humour of the text has been giggle-inducingly brought to life by the fantastic illustrations. Cat and dog lovers will recognise every expression and every behaviour of Simon and Miss Adora Belle.

Kids will love Simon's New Bed, but this adult will also be keeping it around for whenever I need a quick injection of laughter in my day.
