Review: Wholesome Food for Busy Parents

Restructuring children’s and adult eating habits can be a challenge. This book is about helping parents and carers through sometimes slow, but successful steps, towards the preparation of nutritional food.

The recipes in Wholesome Food for Busy Parents are based on food found easily and often in our kitchens. Hints and Tips are reminders of things we know, but that perhaps have slipped to the back of our minds due to the time poor and busy lives we live today.

Many recipes can be cooked in bulk and frozen. Storage and Freezing Techniques gives helpful information on how to preserve your delicious and healthy creations.

Pantry essentials are listed along with things that are a must in fridge and freezer. Allergies and substitute ingredients are addressed as is the question of full or low fat, sugar and salt. We can’t forget the importance of having the basic equipment necessary for any home food preparation, beginning from babies’ nutrition to family food, and snack and lunch box menus.

This book seems to have covered everything including weight and conversion tables,   and oven temperatures. Any novice can become an adept cook and menu planner by following these simple, nutritious recipes which include sweets, hot and cold drinks, and smoothies. The photos of the food are enough to motivate any aspiring change-maker.

As a dedicated nutritional cook myself, I found these no cook, cooked and baked recipes a wonderful step toward healthy lifestyle eating habits.
