Actually, no, that's not the problem. The problem is that he has a broken leg so he can't go with any of them. No matter how hard he tries to persuade his mother and brothers that he could manage, they're adamant that he won't be going ice-skating, waterskiing or hiking any time soon.
Instead, Tom gets to go shopping with his mother ... Ugh ...
But things don't always work out how you expect, and perhaps it's Tom who's going to have the biggest adventure of all!
This is a fast-paced, easy-to-read story that newly confident readers will love. Tom is an endearing character, and the situations he finds himself in are sufficiently crazy that a young audience will be laughing out loud as they wonder what he's going to get up to next.
