Review: Purr

Pet sounds, rhyming, fun—that’s Purr in a nutshell. Created by much-loved Australian author and illustrator, Alison Lester, this is a delightful and simple board book for your littlest readers (or listeners).

In Purr, you will meet a range of well-known animal pets and learn about the sounds they make. Children who are still learning to talk will be thrilled by the animal sounds read aloud, and kids a little older will quickly learn the story and enjoy reciting the rhymes along with the reader.

And it isn’t just the words that are fun. Lester’s illustrations are bright and bold, and the end pages are just gorgeous, with even more animals and their sounds for kids to enjoy.

Purr will easily become a story time favourite. It’s bright, quick and fun, which makes it perfect for introducing young children to story time.

You might also like to explore the other five books that make up Lester’s talk to the animal series: Moo (farm animals), Hoot (night animals), Roar (wild animals), Snore (Australian animals) and Splash (ocean animals).
