Review: Where's Jane?

Where's Jane? is Where's Wally? Regency style! It shares some of the works of Jane Austen and offers interactive puzzles for readers.

Five Jane Austen novels are featured: Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, and Mansfield Park.

There are illustrated plot summaries, outlining the main characters and key events of the stories. For each story, a list of characters with accompanying portraits are given for readers to find on the following pages.

Double-page spreads depict detailed illustrations of the story's events. They include a cross section of a house and the activity in all its rooms, a ballroom, and decorative gardens.

The illustrations are carefully designed to match the stories' plots. For example, Persuasion includes an image of the harbour and houses at Lyme Regis, and Emma is accompanied by an image of a large picnic.

As well as characters from each novel to be found in the pictures, there's also Jane Austen herself (holding a book), and a small pug dog, to look for. The pug is probably the easiest to find amongst all the glamourously dressed people!

Answers to the puzzles are provided at the back of the book, just in case you can't find Jane and the other characters.

Where's Jane? is an excellent introduction to the work of Jane Austen, and will also offer hours of entertainment which can be picked up and put down at any time.
