Review: Splish, Splash, Ducky!

Lucy Cousins is back with another fun and colourful picture book filled with rhythm, rhyme and repetition.

In Splish, Splash, Ducky!, it starts to rain, and Ducky Duckling could not be happier.

He hops with frog, wriggles with worm, hugs bugs and splishes with fishes.

But when the rains stops, Ducky gets sad… until his dad shows him there’s still fun to be had in the sun.

This is a beautifully simple story that is super fun to read aloud.

With loads of onomatopoeia, including quaking on every page, it’s super engaging for kids. A few pages in they are guaranteed to join in on the fun, and demands for a second read through are highly highly likely.

Cousins’ familiar illustrations are, of course, gorgeous. The colours are bright and the characters are funky.

With a shorter word count, this is the perfect picture book for very young kids or kids who find it difficult to sit still. But because it’s so engaging and provides lots of opportunities for audiences to join in on the storytelling, all kids will enjoy this one.
