Reviews: My Lazy Cat

Christine Roussey, co-creator of  Brave As Can Be and Hello There! has written and illustrated a delightful story, My Lazy Cat, about friends sharing a special day together, appreciating the small things in life.

Boomer was her cat from the moment he fell asleep on her feet. These best of friend's daily activities look very different to each others. Boomer like to snooze all day long. While the little girl never has a minute to waste, with an insane schedule of swimming, soccer, yoga and painting.

One hurried morning as the little girl rushes around collecting all the equipment she needs for her busy day, she trips over Boomer. How will the little girl react? Will she cry or stop and laugh?

Roussey uses the tripping incident to help the little girl realise that there are times when it is important to stop, slow down and enjoy the natural world. Boomer shows the girl a day in the slow lane. In the garden they watch ladybugs, listen to the wind in the leaves of a pine tree, eat berries and relax as the clouds float across the sky. I just love days like this, do you?

The message Roussey gives readers in her story My Lazy Cat is profound. She reminds us of the importance of making time in our over busy lives to have fun doing 'lazy things' with the ones that we love. During this slow time we are able to be more mindful about our environment and what our body and soul really needs.
