Review: Collision

Stranded on Mars, 12 young astronauts fight for survival as part of the biggest reality TV show in history. This is the third book in the Phobos series and author Victor Dixen does not disappoint.

Ascension introduced Leonor as one of the 12 young women and men who were contenders in an out of this world speed dating program aimed at creating the first human colony on Mars.

Thinking they were part of history; this extraordinary mission will test them all as they begin to learn the truth. Leonor, an 18 year old orphan thought she might find love and the family she has always craved.

Collision picks up the story when the ultimate TV couple, Leonor and Marcus, who got together at the end Distortion, breakup.

Leonor discovers that Marcus has betrayed her by withholding the truth of the actual mission. Disillusioned, Leonor informs the rest of the group of their breakup, but doesn’t reveal Marcus’ deadly secret.

Leonor wants to know the truth about their fate including facts that are hidden in the Noah Report and what part the Vice President of the United States, Serena McBee plays in all this.

Serena owns the production company behind the Genesis Program reality series. But Leonor can’t help but think that while their adoring fans are watching their lives and loves playing out in the red dirt of Mars, that something more sinister is at work.

Just as Leonor thinks she has worked it all out, Serena and her medial instructor attached to the program are shot. Left in a coma, Serena can no longer control the show, leaving other people to discover the truth, including her daughter Harmony.

The colony faces many obstacles, several of the astronauts want to remain on Mars, friends turn into enemies the more Leonor searches for the truth and the increased toxic red dust storms are threatening to wipe them all out.

In a race against time, forces on earth are experimenting with a space elevator that may just save them from the storms and the threat of depressurisation, then Serena wakes up. Will Leonor and the people she loves make it off the planet? Is Serena really the orchestrator of this failed experiment or is all just a grab for ratings?
