Jessica
Simmons is an internet star on a mission. She plans to be the one that solves
her mother’s murder and capture the serial killer nicknamed the Magpie Man.
Nearly 10 years ago, Jessica’s mother was only 51 seconds from home, when she
was strangled to death – she was the first victim of this madman.
Jessica
auditions for the reality YouTube show called The Eye. The premise of the show
is each person selected will be live on camera from the moment they get up in
the morning till midnight on the same day each week.
After
convincing her father that if he lets her appear on the show, Jessica has a
real shot at capturing the serial killer. Jessica then has to convince the
school and her BFFs Hanna and Emily that this show will be a great opportunity
for them all.
Successfully
selected for the show, Jessica then meets her competition – Ryan, Ella, Lucas
and Sonia who all have a reason they have been selected for the show. To her
horror she soon discovers they must all compete against each other if they want
to get an extension on their contract and keep appearing on the show.
Leaving
Jessica, no time to waste, she shoots straight from the hip and advertises she
will catch the Magpie Man. All she is hoping for is that the killer is watching
and will come out of the shadows where she can see him for what he really is.
Her
Instagram followers explode, then Jessica starts to receive weird texts. The
police contact her and then a brick is thrown through her window – how safe is
she? Believing she is getting closer, Jessica starts to take risks only to
discover Michael her cameraman has set her up with fake information to boost
her popularity.
Disheartened
and running out of air time, Jessica thinks she has lost whatever momentum she
had in trying to find her Mum’s killer. Then she meets Ross whose mother Sharon
was also a victim. Meeting him inspires Jessica to try one more thing, a
re-enactment of her mother’s final hours. This triggers a response that sends
chills up Jessica’s spine.
But
then a body turns up, a new victim of the Magpie Man and everyone on social
media blames Jessica. Will she ever learn the truth or is Jessica the next
