Review: A is for Ant

A is for Ant is a fascinating, beautifully designed board book about ants and the letter a.

Each page or spread begins with ‘A is for’ and continues with a something associated with ants including type of ants, their body parts, food, homes, environments, and my favourite, a beautifully collaged spread about an anteater.

I adore Kate Slater’s collage illustrations, the colours and textures create a unique beauty and depth while suiting the text and board book format wonderfully.

A is for Ant is the first in a series of alphabet based board books, the next is B is for Bee, which I can’t wait to read.

Kate Slater is a UK based illustrator who illustrates primarily with mixed media collage, some of her other books included ABC London and Magpie’s Treasure.
