Review: Grandmas In Grand Cars

Here we have another joyous offering from Walker, in Grandmas In Grand Cars.

Full of fun, fancy, mischief and a surprise or two, this book celebrating Grandmothers and their four-wheeled companions is sure to elicit many smiles.

Celebrating all that is wonderful in the Grandmother/grandchild relationship (and some things that will make your hair curl!), this picture book is a true delight.

A loose rhythm and an easy-going, predictable style mean that there is a great sense of anticipation that builds for the reader.

The word and picture play are classic Elliott – full of joy and laughter - and they never, ever disappoint.

Turning the pages on these Grandmothers, who appear within pleasing, colourful and circular vignettes, is an absolute must. The reader is compelled to find out what the next grandmama will do. Or Say. Or drive!

All of the Grandmothers propel us forward to the final surprise of the book, which is both expected and unexpected.

I suspect that this book with its colourful, happy illustrations and gorgeous detail, will find its way onto many bookshelves.

AND be requested over and over again!
