Review: Animal Opposites At The Zoo

Taronga zoo presents books for wild little learners and explorers!

Spots and strips, fur and spikes! Big and small, short and tall. Every animal is different at the zoo.

Another in the series of Taronga board books for small hands and big hearts, this joy-filled romp through a variety of animals offers both delight and surprise to the reader.

Colourful, friendly illustrations on board that is very satisfying to hold, show animals alongside words that perfectly complement their size and shading on the page.

This book is rather fun to read, and the words roll off the tongue when read aloud, which they beg you to do.

As well as showing a variety of animals with all their different skins and coverings, Animal Opposites At The Zoo invites children to think about what it is that makes each of us special and unique. A simple yet affecting and profoundly important topic to encourage conversation around difference and diversity.

Ah, if only we could all appreciate such uniqueness in the open and easy way that young children do!

A wonderful and wholesome book to delight young readers – over and over again.
