Review: Puffling

These are some of my very favourite Julie Vivas illustrations... these gorgeous renditions of a baby puffin making his way in the world. Soft, evocative, sweet as icing sugar dusted on pastry, Vivas has beautifully captured this adorable Margaret Wild character.

It's summer time and little puffling hatches from his egg to greet his beloved parents. He is small, soft and hungry - and super keen to leave the nest. But he must stay and grow strong.

Impatient little puffin simply can't wait to fling himself into the world, but his loving parents keep him snug and safe... until the big day arrives... and off he goes! Into the big, deep sea.

This is a sweet story of patience, the importance of timing and the ultimate bravery of leaving the nest for the big blue world.

Adorable.
