Review: Bully Blocking

Children of all ages can be, and in many circumstances are, bullied by other children. This is a prevalent issue in modern society, and something that all parents need to be prepared for.

So, what do you do if your child is being taunted, teased or bullied? What do you do if you suspect or if you know that your child is the one doing the bullying?

Bully Blocking is the updated and revised version of the earlier book, Bullybusting, and contains information about understanding bullying (what is it? what causes it? what damage can be done?), how parents and schools can help and how to take action.

The focus of the book, though, is on Field's Six Secrets of Relating. Dealing with feelings and emotions, understanding the bullying, self-esteem, communication, building up our own skillset, support networks - these, she informs us, are the keys to beating the bullying.

Best of all, Field provides us with not just information to prepare for such an occurrence - she gives us practical exercises to help us deal with it. These exercises encourage communication between parents and children and help them work together to find ways to resolve the issues, deal with the stress and anxiety that are caused, and teach kids some valuable life skills.

Every parent should have a copy of this book.
