Review: Cahills vs. Vespers: The Medusa Plot

After travelling the world to discover the 39 Clues that would secure their position at the head of the powerful Cahill family, siblings Amy and Dan thought that they had won and life would return to normal. Instead, a thrilling new adventure begins as they are called on to protect the 39 Clues from the ruthless Vespers.

The Medusa Plot is the first book in a completely new six-book 39 Clues series, Cahills vs. Vespers. The first book promises to bring the same sense of excitement found in the original series. Amy and Dan try to outwit the Vespers to rescue their kidnapped family members and keep the 39 Clues from falling into the wrong hands.

My son has been enthralled by The 39 Clues books since the first book of the first series, The Maze of Bones. He has loved the logic challenges, history and geography puzzles, and the suspense of the thriller-style adventure story as each new book in the series brought Amy and Dan closer to discovering the truth about their family. Three years on, he is still looking forward to the release of each new 39 Clues book.

It is great to see these books continue into a second adventure in Cahills vs. Vespers. I’ve lost count of how many times my son has known some random piece fact about a place, historical event or famous person thanks to a plot development in The 39 Clues.

He has also enjoyed the logic puzzles and games related to the books on The 39 Clues website as well as the author interviews, story extensions and following the countdown to the release of the next 39 Clues title.

The website offers readers a chance to really feel like they are interacting with the action of the story.

With the second book in the Cahills vs. Vespers series, A King's Ransom, released in early December 2011, now is the perfect time to get confident young readers started on their 39 Clues adventure and to extend existing fans with the second series.
