Review: Baddies vs. Goodies (Super Baddies #1)

This series is a perfect introduction to comic books. It's  chockers with interesting characters who do all the things 5 to 9-year-old boys find awesome, and the bold colours, action and exciting illustrations are bound to hook early readers.

Super Baddies go to Baddie Primary, and Goodies go to Goodie Primary. We’re cheering for the Baddies. They say things like ‘Thank Badness’ and ‘Bad One.’

Goodies like vegetables and keeping sand out of their undies. They hate chocolate and mess, want more homework and more baths.
The Baddie's ultimate goal is the end of boredom and the triumph of fun - all day, every day. But the uptight Goodies can’t wait to spoil the Baddies' fun.

Main character Scorcher makes fire and lives in a volcano. During the holidays, he practises stunts with his jet pack because they’re fun, dangerous and perfect for annoying Goodies. But on the first day of term, Scorcher discovers all his friends spent their holidays inventing cool gadgets, not practising stunts. If only he’d done the same as his friends.

When the Baddies show off their gadgets at the bus-stop, they accidentally cross the line into Goodies territory. The Goodies immediately plan their revenge. The ultimate challenge comes when the Goodies send their heat-seeking dyno carrots after the Baddies.

Finally, Scorcher has his chance to ignite. He's lucky he practised stunts all through his holidays! His Trail Blazer, Ring of Fire and Rocket Launch stunts save the Baddies from the onslaught of the vegetables. The Baddies win this battle.

Book one comes complete with a final quiz to see if readers are Goodies or Baddies. Which one would you be? Do you hate eating lollies? You Goodie, you.
