Review: Funny Face!

There are a decent handful of publishers creating super cool, funky, highly imaginative activity books to end all activity books. And Thames & Hudson is one of them.

This new breed of books is nothing like the service-station finds Dad would bring home with the milk, no no. These creations are mini works of art, complete with hard covers, cut-outs, split-pages, fold-outs and all manner of supersonic graphic design.

In Funny Face!, the creative Bahbout/Warren duo have come up with a highly original concept of a book, that transports kids BETWEEN the pages--as in, literally. With plenty of cut-outs and peek-through pages, children can draw into spaces that become new entities once the page has been turned.

Kids can also turn the book upside down, open full page flaps, and fold pages forwards and backwards to create fascinating creations that will get the mind churning, fuel the imagination and really make them smile out loud.

Not only that, the illustrations are so cool, the colours so divine, your toes will curl with delight.

Forget the iPad, Funny Face! brings a whole other meaning to 'interactivity' for kids.

Brilliant.
