Review: Where's Spot 40th Birthday

In this special edition of Where’s Spot we revisit the original story of our beloved Spot for his 40th birthday. To celebrate, a ruby red tinsel background gives the cover a festive look.

Here is Spot, opening his toy box again! After all these years, still loved by children and their parents; still an active part of toddlers’ lives.

It is dinner time. The search begins. Where is Spot?

We start to lift the flaps: open doors, check the clock door, look under the piano top, beneath the stairs, in the wardrobe, under the bed, in the toy box, under the rug.

Where can Spot be?

Delightful memories of beginnings with Spot will spring to mind. Another generation will lift flaps and search for Spot with the same joy and anticipation as the previous one experienced.

Eric Hill began his artistic life as an art studio messenger and graduated to cartoonist, then art director. It was 1978 when he wrote the story of a small puppy for his son as a bedtime story. Spot was born.

Success came with the book which in 1980, saw Hill become a full-time author. He was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to children’s literacy.  His books are sold all over the world.
